Frequently
Asked
Questions
Where do I park?
Signs will indicate event-side street parking along the Magamon festival. Guests may also park in the St. Chris school parking lot, a short walk up Benner Road.
Is the whole day a competition?
Upon arrival at An Feile Ursa Magamon guests are randomly affiliated with the Milesian (green Celtic knot) or Tuatha de Dannan (blue Celtic knot) clan. These affiliations allow guests to fully enjoy the challenges and interactions of the festival. Modified Celtic games, puzzles and other challenges designed by the Brehons (gold Celtic knot) occur throughout the day. Participation is highly encouraged, though certainly not compulsory. Scoring is cumulative for the games. Anyone who participates assists their clan! Your voice matters, too. Cheering on your clan matters as much as competing…and can be done with a beverage in one’s hand!
Can I help?
Bring a friendly competitive spirit, an item for the potluck, and maybe a song or story for the Bardic Circle! The Brehons (gold Celtic knots) manage the flow of events throughout the day and participants are guided by Taoiseachs, who act as leaders of the Milesian and Tuatha de Dannan clans.
What should I bring?
Aside from comfortable clothes for a fall day, guests are asked to bring one food item to share for the potluck dinner. Please make note of any allergen ingredients in your food, such as nuts, fish, soy, etc. Guests are also encouraged to bring a drink to share as well, if the mood strikes them! Consider preparing a poem, story, or song to contribute at the Bardic Circle, as well.
Is the event kid-friendly?
Children make the day all the more fun! Watching little ones try new activities like archery is always a highlight of the day, and there are child-friendly versions of the adult-oriented events like the caber toss. Though alcohol is present, there are non-alcoholic beverages and kid-friendly food options so all can enjoy the day. Ensure your children have a safe and fun day.
Are dogs allowed?
Just as Fionn MacCumhail, a celebrated warrior and leader of the Fianna, was followed into battles and hunts by his faithful hounds, Bran and Sceolan, you, too, may bring your four legged friend. Dogs attending the festival should be friendly with fellow pooches, children, and adults, especially if off-leash.
